Epic Games Supports M—XR with MegaGrant to further progress developments in 3D Capture

Epic Games, a leader in 3D and owner of both Fortnite and Unreal Engine is backing M—XR with a MegaGrant to further the research and development of a newly proposed 3D capture methodology.

The innovation aims to automate conventional 3D capture pipelines whilst bringing a new level of realism to 3D – further bridging the infamous uncanny valley. This empowering existing and emerging 3D stakeholders in industries such as game, film, entertainment and retail to automatically and accurately digitise the real-world without the burden of extremely technical workflows and pipelines.

The belief is that this can change the way creators approach 3D mediums, lowering the barrier of entry for premium content creation allows for the full exploration of how 3D experiences for an array of different purposes.

“Firstly, we would like to say a special thank you to our friends at Epic Games for placing their belief in our team and vision. The grant marks the beginning of a collaboration to tackle some of the hardest problems in 3D production, and we are prepared for them. We look forward to working closely with the teams at Quixel and Unreal Engine as we look to supercharge 3D asset creation and change the world of 3D production forever.”
